We Idahoans value integrity, honesty, and character with our votes. As a representative, I will work to protect family and community, individual freedoms, and our children’s future by wise use of Idaho’s resources.
Conservative Government
As a previous Burley City Councilman, I believe the most effective government is the one closest to home. I will support policies that allow cities, counties, and school districts to determine their own future.” My goal is not to dismantle state government but to make it efficient and effective and meet the needs of the citizens. Financial well-being places Idaho among the top five states. Idaho ranks 43rd in the nation when comparing taxes paid per person. Idaho’s rainy-day funds are full, growth is 6%. Our budget overall increase was a mere 1.7%; half that of the most recent inflation rates. I serve on the Joint Finance Appropriations Committee, which reviews budgets and prepares them for legislative approval.
Investing in Infrastructure
With years of experience in transportation, I understand dollars spent on our transportation system helps Idaho. I will continue to ensure that we adequately fund our transportation system for safety, efficiency, and productivity. This year marks the third year the legislature provided funds to update our aging bridges. The Idaho Transportation Department continues projects in district 27 with upgrades on 1-84, replacement of 208 and 211 interchanges, and multiple improvements in all three counties.
Protecting our Families
It is time to give parents the ability to be involved in the medical and mental health decisions of children 13 and older. SB1329 establishes provisions regarding parental rights in medical decision making for dependent children. We are protecting the gender of our kids until they are mature enough to understand consequences. Kids in the foster care system need protection. This year I supported a bill to create an independent ombudsman to protect the rights of foster kids and families. It is our obligation to make sure that children in the system are safe and well-cared for.
Supporting our Freedom Fighters
I have a history of supporting local law enforcement. I respect the sacrifices of our local police officers. While wages for state employees increased 3%, our police salaries increased by 10%. I deeply value the citizens’ rights to bear arms. Passing mandatory minimums for fentanyl means drug traffickers will face consequences. New legislation supports police training to learn new techniques for fighting human trafficking. I support Idaho by sending officers to assist Texas with the southern border crisis.

Agriculture
Our area has more agriculture than the rest of the state. Our family business, Handy Truck Line, has supported farmers and the businesses they build for decades. Clay Handy is also fully invested in helping his son to become a farmer presently called Handy Farms.
Education
Children are born with beautiful minds that will bless our state. The support from a government entities facilitates education of all children irregardless of their circumstance.
Public Service and Natural Resources
Idaho is rich in public lands and natural resources. Protecting private property rights and ownership, and other rights will be my top priority in public service. As well as protecting the resources that we have for generations to come with our public lands.
Successful Government
Part of the freedoms we enjoy in Idaho is the limited taxes we pay. Our balanced budget has decreased the tax burden, decreased inflation in Idaho, and improved accountability in government spending.
